Motor CE Certification
Motors are the most widely used in industrial applications, and a nation's motor manufacturing capabilities reflect its overall industrial strength. China's motor exports have been growing annually. Obtaining CE certification for motors not only ensures consumer safety but also enhances product competitiveness. Below is a brief overview of motor CE certification: the testing requirements under the EN 60034 standard.
EN 60034-1 serves as the foundational standard for rotating electrical machines, defining fundamental performance characteristics and technical requirements. The EN 60034 standard specifies the following testing items for motor CE certification:
1. Enclosure protection;
2. Temperature rise;
3. Electrical clearances and creepage distances;
4. Grounding;
5. Insulation resistance and dielectric strength;
6. Overspeed;
7. Accidental overcurrent;
8. Voltage variation;
9. Minimum torque;
10. Shaft end;
11. Other test items.
Motor CE certification primarily involves the Low Voltage Directive (LVD) and Electromagnetic Compatibility Directive (EMC) within the CE certification framework:
1. Low Voltage Directive (LVD, 2006/95/EC), established in 1973, applies to all motor products designed for use with voltages ranging from 50 to 1000 V AC and 75 to 1500 V DC.
2. EMC compliance for motor products ensures equipment operates correctly within its electromagnetic environment while avoiding interference with other systems and devices. The EMC Directive 89/336/EEC was enacted on May 1, 1989. The current EMC Directive is designated as 2014/30/EU.
