Glass CE Certification
Glass is ubiquitous in our daily lives, with different types used in various applications. The specific glass type determines the applicable European export standards. Given the substantial volume of glass products exported to Europe, exporters and manufacturers should pay close attention to export testing requirements. Below is a brief overview of the standards and procedures for obtaining CE certification for glass products.
Relevant Standards for Glass CE Certification:
Float Glass, Sodium Calcium Silicate Glass:
EN 572-9:2004 Building Glass - Basic Sodium Calcium Silicate Glass Products - Part 9: Assessment of Conformity / Product Standard
Glass mirrors CE certification: EN 1036-2:2008 Architectural glass - Silvered float glass mirrors for interior use - Part 2: Evaluation of conformity; Product standard
Paving glass CE certification: EN 1051-2:2007 Architectural glass - Glass blocks and glass paving materials - Part 2: Evaluation of conformity; Product standard
Coated Glass CE Certification: EN 1096-4:2004 Architectural Glass - Coated Glass - Part 4: Evaluation of Conformity/Product Standard
Insulating Glass: EN 1279-5+A2:2010 Architectural Glass - Insulating Glass Units - Part 5: Evaluation of Conformity
Borosilicate Glass: EN 1748-1-2:2004 Architectural Glass - Special Basic Products - Borosilicate Glass - Part 1-2: Evaluation of Conformity/Product Standard
Ceramic Glass, Microcrystalline Glass: EN 1748-2-2:2004 Architectural Glass - Special Basic Products - Ceramic Glass - Part 2-2: Evaluation of Conformity/Product Standard
Heat-strengthened glass: EN 1863-2:2004 Building glass - Thermally strengthened soda lime silicate glass - Part 2: Conformity assessment/Product standard
Toughened glass: EN 12150-2:2004 Building glass - Thermally toughened soda lime silicate glass - Part 2: Conformity assessment/Product standard
Chemically Strengthened Glass: EN 12337-2:2004 Building Glass - Chemically Strengthened Sodium Calcium Silicate Glass - Part 2: Assessment and Acceptance/Product Standard
Glass CE Certification Process:
Step 1: Applicant completes the CE-marking application form and submits product information to our company.
Step 2: Shanghai Shitong engineers determine testing standards and items based on product data and provide a quotation.
Step 3: After confirming the quotation, the applicant signs the case filing application form and service agreement contract, then pays the project fee.
Step 4: Mail the test samples.
Step 5: The laboratory conducts a full set of tests on the applied product according to relevant EU testing standards, along with differential testing for related models.
Step 6: Testing passes, report completed.
Step 7: Project completed, CE certificate issued.
