Bump Testing
Bump testing can be considered as the cumulative effect of mechanical shock testing—a process of repeated impacts. Compared to mechanical shock, the various magnitudes in bump testing are relatively smaller. Its purpose is to examine components, equipment assemblies, and other electronic parts of the specimen that are subjected to repeated impacts during transportation or in-use environments. The results are compared against the specimen's specifications to determine its ability to withstand the severity of bump conditions. This test is primarily aimed at unpackaged samples and samples whose packaging can be considered an integral part of the product itself (e.g., in transport cases). For the effects of repeated land transport vibration on the test object, bump testing simulates repeated jolts, severe shaking, or collisions, which vary with distance, road conditions, vehicle, trailer, and railway transport types. These effects occur at different frequencies and exhibit complex and random characteristics, with railway transport primarily experiencing medium-intensity jolts due to rail joints.
