EMC Directive

1. Overview of Electromagnetic Compatibility CE Certification (EMC Directive):

The International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) defines electromagnetic compatibility as the ability of a system or equipment to function properly in its electromagnetic environment without causing interference to other systems and equipment.

To standardize the management of electromagnetic compatibility of electrical equipment across EU member states and harmonize their regulations, the EMC Directive 89/336/EEC was promulgated on May 1, 1989, and became mandatory on January 1, 1996. The current directive is 2014/30/EU.

2. Core Requirements of EMC Directive CE Certification:

The EMC Directive CE certification requires that electromagnetic emissions from all electrical, electronic products, and equipment containing electrical/electronic components must not exceed specified limits to avoid interfering with the normal operation of other equipment. At the same time, products must possess a certain level of immunity to ensure normal operation under standard conditions (i.e., to resist electromagnetic interference emitted by other equipment below the limits allowed by industrial standards).

(2) Home radio and television receivers;
(3) Industrial manufacturing equipment;
(4) Mobile radio equipment;
(5) Medical and scientific instruments;
(6) Information technology equipment;
(7) Telecommunications networks and equipment;
(8) Lighting equipment and fluorescent lamps;
(9) Aviation and maritime radio equipment;
(10) Educational electronic equipment.

4. Documentation Required for EMC CE Certification Technical Consultation:

1. Product instruction manual;

2. Product structure description;

3. Product electrical schematic and printed circuit board layout;

4. List of key EMC components;

5. Other relevant documentation as required;

6. Copies of certification for key safety components;

7. Explanation of differences between models within the same application unit.
