CR certification is applicable to robot-form electronic products that can move autonomously and provide services according to preset programs. As long as they belong to the robot product category, they can undergo CR certification.

In 2016, the National Development and Reform Commission, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and the Certification and Accreditation Administration officially released the "China Robot Certification (CR)" mark at a forum, and simultaneously issued the first batch of China robot product certification certificates.

The overall image of the CR mark is formed by nesting the letter R inside the letter C, evolving pictographically into a vivid robot image within a full circle. The letter C is the initial letter of China and Certification, and R is the initial letter of Robot. The mark can be interpreted as Robot Certification or China Robot Certification, expressing that as the robot industry thrives and application areas continue to expand, public attention is increasingly focused on robot safety and reliability issues.

The CR mark will serve as the unified mark for China Robot Certification. Approved robot product certification institutions will uniformly use this mark for robot certification. There are generally two modes for China robot CR certification:

Mode A: Type testing, where the certification certificate is only valid for the submitted samples (adding product serial numbers on the certificate), with no fixed validity period for the certificate;

Mode B: Type testing + factory inspection + post-certification supervision (the certificate applies to products of the same model leaving the factory), with a certificate validity period of 5 years.

Industrial robot certification, service robot certification, drone certification, etc., details as follows:

1. Industrial Robot Certification

Intelligence level and reliability evaluation of robots used in various industrial environments, customized measurement services.

2. Special Robot Certification

Automatic Guided Vehicles (AGV), power inspection robots, firefighting robots, mining robots, etc. Safety, performance, explosion-proof and reliability evaluation, customized measurement services;

3. Service Robot Certification

Service robots, drones, intelligent products and core component testing, evaluation and standards.

Systematic and objective testing, certification, and customized services such as non-standard testing, fault diagnosis, and consulting for functional, performance, safety, environmental adaptability, and electromagnetic compatibility.
