1. National Food Grade TestingIntroduction:
On September 25, 2023, China's National Health Commission (NHC) issued Announcement No. 6 of 2023, releasing 85 food safety national standards and 3 standard amendment sheets. Among them, there are 17 standards related to food contact materials. These 17 new food contact material standards include 5 material standards (plastics, metals, rubber, composite materials, inks) and 12 test method standards (GB 31604 series).
2. National Food Grade Testing GB4806 Standard Test Items
1. Evaporation residue in different food simulants.
2. Potassium permanganate consumption.
3. Heavy metals (as lead).
4. Decolorization test.
5. Heavy metal dissolution test: such as lead, cadmium, arsenic, antimony, nickel, etc.
6. Toxic and harmful monomer residues: such as vinyl chloride monomer, acrylonitrile monomer, etc.
7. Microbial testing.
3. National Food Grade Testing GB4806 Standard Testing Scope
1. Polyethylene (PE): plastic packaging bags, packaging boxes, cling film, plastic film bags, etc.
2. PET (Polyethylene Terephthalate): mineral water, carbonated beverages, these products have certain storage conditions.
3. HDPE (High-Density Polyethylene): soybean milk machines, milk bottles, fruit juice beverages, microwave oven tableware, etc.
4. PS (Polystyrene): instant noodle boxes, fast food boxes, materials cannot contain acidic or alkaline foods.
5. Ceramic/Enamel: common items include teacups, bowls, plates, teapots, jars, etc.
6. Glass: insulated cups, glasses, canned jars, etc.
7. Stainless steel/Metal: insulated cups, forks, spoons, woks, spatulas, stainless steel chopsticks, etc.
8. Silicone/Rubber: baby nipples, baby bottles, and other silicone products.
9. Paper/Paperboard: mainly used for packaging boxes, such as cake boxes, candy boxes, chocolate wrapping paper, etc.
10. Coatings/Layers: common items include cups (i.e., colored coatings on cups), children's bowls, children's spoons, etc.
