1. Introduction to Australia Food Contact Material Testing:
When selling food contact material products to Australia, the market recognizes EU Regulation 1935/2004/EC and relevant US FDA regulations. This is because, compared to the United States and the European Union, Australia has not yet established a comprehensive food contact safety regulatory system like the EU's (EC) No. 1935/2004/EC Regulation or the US FDA. Safety control of food contact materials is primarily ensured through self-management by manufacturers and operators.
Australia's regulatory requirements for food contact materials are mainly embodied in the Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code. Section 1.4.3 of the Code defines food contact articles and sets general requirements: first, food contact articles must not cause harm or discomfort to consumers; second, materials must be safe and suitable for their intended use. However, the Code does not specify detailed safety standards for food contact materials or impose mandatory production requirements.
