1. Radiated Emission (RE) Test Overview
The Radiated Emission (RE) test measures the radiation disturbance field strength transmitted through space by the Equipment Under Test (EUT). It can be divided into magnetic field radiation and electric field radiation. The former applies to lighting fixtures and induction cookers, while the latter is more widely used. Additionally, household appliances, power tools, and auxiliary equipment for AV products have requirements for disturbance power (referred to as disturbance power).
2. Radiated Emission Test Standards:
a) Electric Field Radiation: CISPR22, CISPR13, CISPR11, CISPR14-1, CISPR15 (for specific categories of toys);
b) Magnetic Field Radiation: CISPR15 (for lighting fixtures with operating current frequency exceeding 100Hz), CISPR11 (for induction cookers);
c) Disturbance Power: CISPR14-1 (excluding some equipment with operating frequencies not exceeding 9kHz), CISPR13 (only for auxiliary equipment).
3. Radiated Emission Test Frequency Ranges:
Electric field radiation is generally tested from 30MHz to 1GHz (some products require testing above 1GHz, as specified in the relevant standard). Magnetic field radiation is tested from 9kHz to 30MHz, and disturbance power from 30MHz to 300MHz.
4. Radiated Emission Test Limits:
Limits vary depending on the standard, test distance (3m, 10m, or other dimensions), and product classification (Group 1/2, Class A/B).
5. Radiated Emission Test Procedure:
a) 30MHz-1GHz Electric Field Radiation: Conducted in a semi-anechoic chamber. The EUT rotates 360 degrees on a turntable while the antenna moves vertically between 1-4m in height to find the maximum radiation. Results are expressed in QP (Quasi-Peak) value. Both vertical and horizontal antenna polarizations are tested.
b) Electric Field Radiation above 1GHz: Required for ITE equipment with operating frequencies above 108MHz and ISM equipment above 400MHz. Testing is performed at a 3m distance using a spectrum analyzer. The test method for ITE equipment is similar to that for 30MHz-1GHz, with results expressed in Peak and Average (AV) values. ISM products are tested differently, requiring a full anechoic chamber where the antenna remains at the same height as the product without vertical movement, while the turntable rotates to find the maximum radiation. 6. Radiated Emission (RE) Test Result Judgment:
The measured value from the detector is compared with the limit line. Below the limit line is PASS; above is FAIL.
7. Radiated Emission (RE) Test Considerations:
Test setup remains a critical aspect. Additionally, as this is high-frequency testing, factors such as the test site and equipment can significantly impact the final results.
8. Radiated Emission (RE) Test Frequency Range:
30MHz - 18.5GHz
