EMC Testing

The electromagnetic compatibility testing commonly referred to generally includes domestic EMC testing and the European Union's EMC Directive (2014/30/EU). Both refer to the ability of equipment or systems to operate in compliance with requirements within their electromagnetic environment without causing intolerable electromagnetic interference to any devices in that environment. The International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) defines electromagnetic compatibility as: the ability of a system or device to function normally in its electromagnetic environment while not causing interference to other systems and devices.

Domestic EMC testing and the EU EMC Directive (2014/30/EU) share the same meaning, test items, and product coverage. Below, we provide a detailed introduction to the test items and product scope of EMC testing.

EMC Test Items:

Radiated emissions, conducted disturbances, power frequency magnetic fields, harmonic current, voltage fluctuations and flicker, click, electrostatic discharge (ESD), radiated immunity, electrical fast transient/burst immunity, power frequency magnetic field immunity, voltage dips and interruptions, interharmonic immunity, magnetic field exposure test, electromagnetic radiation, electromagnetic radiation immunity (anechoic chamber), bulk current injection (BCI), transient conducted immunity.

Scope of EMC Testing Products:

1. Household appliances and household electronic equipment;

2. Household radio and television receivers;

3. Industrial manufacturing equipment;

4. Industrial manufacturing equipment (Note: duplicate in original, retained for consistency);

5. Mobile radio equipment;

6. Mobile radio communications and commercial wireless equipment;

7. Medical and scientific instruments;

8. Information technology equipment;

9. Telecommunications networks and equipment;

10. Lighting equipment and fluorescent lamps;

11. Aeronautical and maritime radio equipment;
